[Saba Sports News] Athletes in any professional sport are always trying to grow their brands on and off the field or court,” and Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is no exception.
Known for his incredible shooting, Curry is now making a big name for himself off the court with Under Armour’s Curry Brand. Much like Michael Jordan did with Jordan Brand, Curry is building his own brand and assembling a unique roster of talent, which includes Sacramento Kings All-Star De’Aaron Fox.
Despite the Warriors and Kings’ rivalry, Curry and Fox have formed a strong bond through their work with Curry Brand. Fox, who signed with the brand in October 2023, is set to release his own Fox 1 signature shoe, with Curry’s help.
“We were both in the playoffs against one another, and he was wearing Curry products exclusively at that point,” Curry recalled. “I’d always do a pregame check… I’d come out, look down at the court, and see what color kicks he had on because sometimes he’d wear stuff even before I’d debut them on the court.”
Curry explained that signing Fox was a big deal for his brand, as Fox is the only other NBA player on the Curry Brand roster. “Signing D-Fox and our roster speaks to this moment in time,” Curry said. “As a signature athlete and now with Curry Brand, our statement is: ‘Change the game for good.’” Curry emphasized the importance of community, family, and pursuing excellence, noting that the brand’s growth is just beginning.
Curry’s vision for his brand extends beyond basketball, as he looks to expand into other sports like golf. While the Warriors and Kings may continue to battle on the court, Curry and Fox’s friendship and collaboration off the court will only strengthen, with Curry excited for the future: “It has been a lifelong journey of growth for this brand. For me, I am excited to take D-Fox to China and wave the Curry Brand flag… Take the blueprint, but do it the way you see fit and authentic to you.”
