[Saba Sports News] According to a report by the BBC, the Hong Kong government recently introduced a secondary school textbook suggesting that if young students feel sexual impulses, they can substitute them by going to the sports ground to play badminton together. This bizarre suggestion quickly became a laughingstock among netizens, who made jokes about badminton on social media. For instance, one fan commented on Instagram, “What does FWB mean? Friends with Badminton,” which received over 1,000 likes. Even Tse Ying Suet, who reached the semi-finals in mixed doubles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, joined the discussion and questioned the educational policy of the Hong Kong government. Tse Ying Suet posted on Threads, “Everyone is asked to play badminton; does everyone really like playing badminton?” She ended the post with a smiling emoji wearing sunglasses. In response, some fans argued that this textbook exposes the Hong Kong Education Bureau’s lack of understanding of young people, especially the suggestion of playing badminton together, which is completely impractical.
