[Saba Sports News] The Korea Open Badminton Championships recently kicked off, and the Korean Badminton Association (KBA) has become the center of attention, especially after Olympic women’s singles gold medalist An Se-young openly criticized the KBA for not caring about players and ignoring their suggestions and complaints. During the opening ceremony, the KBA president, Kim Taek-gyu, responded to these allegations for the first time, claiming innocence and saying, “To make changes, we must align with other sports. This is not something I can decide alone. As long as the National Assembly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, or the Korean Sports & Olympic Committee reach an agreement on system improvements, we will make adjustments.” Based on An Se-young’s accusations and various reports, it seems there are several issues with how the KBA manages player injuries, selection decisions, sponsorships, and contracts. The resolution and investigation of these issues remain to be seen and pursued further.
