[Saba Sports News] F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and
Doma Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta are considering the possibility of holding F1
and MotoGP races on the same weekend and at the same venue. The idea of a super
weekend hosting both events has been met with optimism by “Marca,” as
it would provide F1 fans with a new experience and promote MotoGP on a larger
scale. However, there are concerns about the challenges this cross-border
linkage may pose, such as sponsor issues and potential impacts on driver
safety. It is believed that F1’s street races would be excluded from the MotoGP
calendar, which could complicate the scheduling of the event. Historically,
MotoGP and F1 have tried to avoid scheduling overlaps to prevent conflicts for
the viewership. Although the concept of these two major events competing on the
same weekend and track may seem unconventional, it could result in cost savings
and mutual benefits for both sports.
