[Saba Sports News] Anthony Davis is determined to compete for an NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers next season. Despite recent challenges, Davis emphasized that the franchise’s goal remains winning titles, stressing the importance of accountability among his teammates.
“The goal is still to win championships. You can’t skip steps. The first step is holding each other accountable. We’re going to show up, work hard, and if something goes wrong, we’ll hold each other accountable and figure it out from there.”
Last season, Davis averaged 24.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.3 blocks in 76 games, solidifying himself as one of the NBA’s top defenders and the Lakers’ defensive anchor. Many viewed Davis as the team’s best player over LeBron James, who averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists in 71 games.
The Lakers struggled with accountability last season, with coach Darvin Ham losing the locker room as players and the coach blamed each other for the team’s struggles. Under new coach JJ Redick, the Lakers aim to be more self-aware and honest, hoping to progress into a title contender with a roster nearly identical to last season, aside from rookie additions Dalton Knecht and Bronny James.
