[Saba Sports News] Kevin Durant, despite being one of the most talented players to ever wear a Brooklyn Nets uniform, has downplayed the notion of receiving a tribute video upon his return to Brooklyn as a Phoenix Sun. Durant questions the merit of such an honor, highlighting his relatively brief and unfruitful tenure with the Nets.
“What did I do to deserve that? … I was there for three years, four years, and we didn’t accomplish anything worth being celebrated for,” Durant expressed, emphasizing his belief in focusing on the collective rather than individual accolades during games. In conversations with Duane Rankin and on social media, Durant voiced his opinion that he did not stay with the Nets long enough, nor did he contribute significantly enough to warrant special recognition.
Despite his All-Star appearances and an All-NBA team selection during his time with the Nets, Durant points to the lack of playoff success as a reason for his stance against a tribute video, underscoring his desire for the spotlight to remain on the game and its players rather than on him personally.
