[Saba Sports News] During the group stage of the 2024 Paris Olympics badminton tournament, Taiwan’s top player Tai Tzu-Ying defeated Belgium’s Lianne Tan in just 37 minutes. After the match, some fans unexpectedly noticed her Adam’s apple in the side view photo of Tai Tzu-Ying’s match, which drew the attention of many fans. Because Tai Tzu-Ying has a slim figure and low body fat percentage, her Adam’s apple is more noticeable. Some fans mentioned that their female colleagues also have Adam’s apples and are talented in sports, with one of them having been a national team player in volleyball. It is worth noting that Adam’s apple is not exclusive to males. The Adam’s apple is the protrusion of the thyroid cartilage. Both males and females have Adam’s apples, but the Adam’s apple is more prominent in males, while it is less noticeable in females. During puberty, females start to secrete abundant estrogen and very little testosterone, so the thyroid cartilage is not stimulated significantly, and therefore the Adam’s apple is not prominent. However, some females may have a more noticeable Adam’s apple due to their slim physique or hormonal imbalances, and Tai Tzu-Ying is one of those individuals.
