Halmstads BK was the runner-up in the Swedish Division 1 during the 2022 season. They finished 11th in the last season’s Allsvenskan and their overall strength is considered average. This season, their aim is to avoid relegation. During games, Halmstads often commits a large number of players to attack due to their wide offensive firepower. Apart from the two forwards who can score goals for them, most of the midfielders and defenders have also scored goals in the league. Additionally, Halmstads has an advantage in set-piece and corner kick tactics. Even if the opponent deploys a strong defense in their own half, Halmstads can break the situation through set-piece tactics. However, it’s unfortunate that Halmstads lost three key players, namely forward Viktor Granath, midfielder Amir Al-Ammari, and defender Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, after the summer transfer window. This has weakened their offensive and defensive capabilities, and they are currently going through a phase of reorganizing. As a result, Halmstads has recorded three consecutive losses after the European Championship and is currently in poor form.
Vaernamo was the champion of the Swedish Division 1 during the 2021 season. They finished fifth last season in the Allsvenskan and were considered a dark horse in the league. Unfortunately, their performance this season has been unsatisfactory, primarily due to their poor performance at home. They currently have the lowest home score in the league. However, their away performance is still strong, ranking third in the league. Vaernamo is one of the few teams in the league that utilizes the 442 formation. They typically employ a defensive counterattack strategy against their opponents. They excel at seeking opportunities for quick counterattacks through interceptions in the midfield. Weaker teams often focus on their defense against Vaernamo. As long as their midfield and defense are strong enough, Vaernamo can avoid relegation with their solid defense. In early July, Vaernamo signed a strong player, South African international midfielder Luke Le Roux, who joined from Eredivisie team FC Volendam. After two weeks of adaptation, Le Roux has integrated well into the team’s tactics and is expected to start in this game. Last season, he played for the Swedish Allsvenskan team Varbergs Bols and is very familiar with the league. He even scored against Halmstads in an away game last July.
Considering the transfer operations of both teams in July, Vaernamo currently has a stronger overall strength than Halmstads. Therefore, we believe Vaernamo can secure all three points in this away game.
