[Saba Sports News] The countdown to the opening of the Paris Olympic Games is underway, and members of the Chinese Taipei delegation have arrived in Paris, France. The Taiwan Sports Administration recently announced that badminton player TAI Tzu-Ying, ranked number one in the world, along with break dancer Sun Chen, will serve as flag bearers at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. Tai Tzu-Ying, who has competed in the Olympics four times in her career, has rarely participated in previous world series’ opening ceremonies. As she prepares for her final Olympic journey in Paris, Tai Tzu-Ying has accepted the invitation from the Sports Administration to be the flag bearer for the Chinese Taipei delegation. Tai Tzu-Ying expressed her surprise and gratitude for the opportunity, considering it a special experience. Some fans noted that as a four-time veteran of the Olympic Games, Tai Tzu-Ying is highly recognized and popular internationally and in Taiwan. The decision for her to be the flag bearer was made after considering the schedule for the day after the opening ceremony and ensuring it would not affect the players’ preparation. Tai Tzu-Ying’s best result in the Olympics was winning the silver medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where she faced Chinese player Chen Yufei in the final. She lost to Chen Yufei with a score of 18-21, 21-19, 18-21.
