[Saba Sports News] The Paris Olympic badminton event is scheduled to commence at the end of this month. The announcement of the competition schedule draws has left the Indonesian Badminton Association dissatisfied. The seeded player, Jonatan Christie, has been placed in Group L. As per the draw, Jonatan would need to play at least five, and possibly six, matches to qualify for the quarterfinals. Not only will he not receive a bye in the first round of the knockout stage, but he will also face India’s unseeded prodigy Lakshya Sen, who is considered one of the strongest players in the group stage. Disappointed by Jonatan’s unfavorable draw, the Indonesian Badminton Association has formally protested to the Badminton World Federation regarding the perceived unfairness during the group stage draw. Additionally, they have requested the Badminton World Federation to arrange a suitable match schedule for Jonatan, ensuring he receives adequate rest. In the editor’s opinion, while playing more games may help Jonatan better adapt to the venue and establish a rhythm, it will inevitably consume more physical energy. Singles badminton is a physically demanding sport, and Jonatan will need to have sufficient physical reserves.
