[Saba Sports News] With Lewis Hamilton’s official
announcement of his departure from the Mercedes-AMG team, the team faces the
challenge of finding a suitable replacement. Popular candidates for the vacant
seat include two-time world champion Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz. In a
surprising turn of events, it has been reported that Mercedes-Benz CEO Toto
Wolff has reached out to retired former F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel,
hinting at a potential comeback. However, Wolff downplayed the rumors in a
recent interview, employing evasive tactics with the media. Interestingly, as
early as September of the previous year, Vettel’s friend and former Red Bull
team boss Helmut Marko jokingly stated that Vettel’s driving career was
“not over yet,” revealing Vettel’s lingering desire to return to F1
after losing confidence since his departure. Various indications point towards
Vettel’s potential return and his possible involvement with the Mercedes-AMG
team next year.
