[Saba Sports News] In the quarter-finals of the European Championship, Germany suffered a 1-2 defeat to Spain in overtime, bidding farewell to the tournament with regret. After the game, dozens of English fans confronted German fans on the streets. The English taunted the Germans for their elimination, resulting in some physical altercations. An eyewitness at the scene revealed, “English fans were mocking the Germans for losing to Spain. They were singing something like ‘Have you ever seen the Germans win a war?’. About 20 Englishmen were involved in the fight with the Germans. Several individuals engaged in physical confrontations.” The disappointment and slight anger among German fans after their team’s elimination can be understood. Whether inside or outside the stadium, the faces of German fans were filled with regret. Ironically, at this time, English fans found it appropriate to provoke their German counterparts. While England and Germany are historical rivals, English fans should exercise restraint when in Germany.
