[Saba Sports News] Mission 44, a charity founded by seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton in 2021, has recently gained official support from F1. The close working relationship between F1 and Mission 44 aims to address challenges related to diversity and inclusion in sports. F1 supports the charity in providing once-in-a-lifetime experiences for students from underrepresented groups, inspiring them to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and motor sport. Hamilton expressed his excitement during an interview, stating his desire to bring meaningful change to society by equipping schools with appropriate strategies to support and empower young black students rather than abandon them. The foundation’s research indicates that black students are more likely to face exclusion than their white counterparts. Some car fans consider preventing social exclusion a social justice issue, as excluded pupils often face complex social and economic challenges, including poverty, racism, and mental illness, leading to disadvantage and discrimination within the education system.
