[Saba Sports News] Sports-themed animations have always been popular among audiences. Last year, the football-themed comic “Blue Lock” became Japan’s best-selling comic in 2023, and its first movie was also successful at the box office. This year, volleyball became the most popular sport among young people with the release of the movie “Volleyball: Trash Can Wars” in theaters in Japan, North America, and around the world. Now, a comic about basketball and badminton is being animated and will be released on Netflix later this year. It is called “Blue Box”. According to the data, “Blue Box” was first launched in “Shonen Jump” in 2021, and more than 150 chapters have been published so far. The comic introduces two characters who strive for success in each field, adding a romantic element to the sports story rather than focusing solely on badminton and basketball. The release date of the “Blue Box” animated adaptation has not been revealed by Netflix, but it has been confirmed that the series will be produced by Telecom Animation Film, a company with a good reputation that has produced works such as “Blade Tooth,” “Tower of God,” “Lupine III Part 4,” and “Shenmue Animation.”
