[Saba Sports News] The Aston Martin Saudi Aramco Formula One Team has announced that Andy Cowell will join as the Group Chief Executive Officer, starting from October 1, 2024. Lawrence Stroll, team owner, reported that the current Group CEO, Martin Whitmarsh, will step down before the end of this year. Recently, some media outlets revealed Andy’s background, showcasing his extensive experience. Andy is a Fellow of IMechE (Institution of Mechanical Engineers) and the Royal Academy of Engineering. He began his career at Cosworth before joining BMW Motor sport in 2000, where he stayed until 2004. Later, he became the Chief Engineer at Mercedes-Ilmor. From 2008 to 2013, he served as the Director of Engineering at Mercedes-Benz HPE. During the V6 turbo hybrid era, Andy held the position of General Manager at Mercedes-AMG HPP, witnessing the Mercedes-AMG F1 team’s consecutive driver and manufacturer championship wins from 2014 to 2020. Lawrence Stroll expressed that Andy’s arrival is aligned with the team’s goal of competing for the F1 championship.
