[Saba Sports News] During the 33rd match of the ICC Under 19 World Cup 2024 at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, the India and Nepal U-19 teams faced off on February 2. In a shared ICC video, an inquiry about the celebration’s significance led to Saharan revealing it was inspired by UFC fighter Israel Adesanya’s victory gesture, admiring the fighter’s achievement and emulating it in his cricketing milestone.
Israel Adesanya, a prominent figure in mixed martial arts hailing from New Zealand, competes in the UFC’s Middleweight division and has been champion twice. As of January 23, 2024, he’s highly ranked in the UFC standings, known for his skill in both mixed martial arts and kickboxing.
In the game itself, India, electing to bat first, initially found themselves in a tight spot at 62 for three. However, Saharan, alongside Sachin Dhas, turned the tide with a 215-run partnership, propelling India to a total of 297 for five. Saharan’s century came off 107 balls, contributing significantly to the team’s score.
Nepal’s attempt to chase was thwarted as they were bowled out for 165, granting India a commanding 132-run victory. Saumy Pandey, with four wickets, and Arshin Kulkarni, with two, were instrumental in India’s bowling success.
