[Saba Sports News] The son of a legendary coach is continuing his basketball journey.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Monday that Buddy Boeheim plans to sign an Exhibit 10 contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder. This one-year contract is for the league-minimum salary.
Buddy Boeheim, 24, is the son of retired Syracuse coaching legend Jim Boeheim. He played four seasons at Syracuse as a walk-on for his father. After going undrafted in 2022, Buddy joined the Detroit Pistons on a two-way contract. In two seasons with the Pistons, he averaged 2.5 points and 0.8 rebounds in 8.7 minutes per game and also played for their Summer League and G League teams.
In the G League last season with the Motor City Cruise, Buddy thrived, averaging 17.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, shooting 43.1 percent from three. His performance has now earned him a deal with the Thunder, who recently signed another notable player from the college ranks.
