[Saba Sports News] Reports suggest that racing is being considered as a candidate event for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Formula 1 drivers have expressed mixed opinions on this matter. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc enthusiastically welcomes the idea, considering it an honor to be part of the Olympics and an extraordinary moment. On the other hand, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen opposes the proposal, stating that F1 already has its own championship and he would rather watch the Olympics on TV than participate. Mercedes team’s Lewis Hamilton also objects, asserting that racing is not an Olympic event. He sympathizes with athletes who have dedicated years of training to participate in the Olympics. Former International Olympic Committee President Count Jacques Rogge previously rejected the possibility of F1 becoming an Olympic sport, emphasizing that the focus should be on the athletes, not the engines. He reaffirmed the philosophy of the Olympics, which centers on athletes rather than equipment.
