[Saba Sports News] The Denver Nuggets are retaining one of their veteran players for another year.
On Saturday, the Nuggets re-signed backup center DeAndre Jordan to a one-year contract worth $3.6 million, according to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report. Jordan, a 3-time All-NBA center, averaged just 3.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game last season in limited minutes.
However, Jordan plays a crucial role as the team’s veteran presence in the locker room and has a strong relationship with Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic, who praised him during Denver’s recent playoff run. Once known for his viral dunk highlights, Jordan now trends for less flattering reasons.
Denver’s decision to re-sign Jordan was likely influenced by the relatively low cost of the deal. However, one of the Nuggets’ other veterans appears to be seeking a larger payday elsewhere.
