[Saba Sports News] In the recently concluded group stage of the European Championship in Germany, Ukraine was eliminated with 4 points due to a goal difference disadvantage. It was an unfortunate outcome as they became the first team to be eliminated from the European Cup with 4 points but finishing at the bottom of their group. In a situation where all teams in Group 4E had 4 points, the qualifying teams were determined based on goal difference and other rules. Ultimately, Romania advanced as the group leaders, while Slovakia, with 4 points, advanced as one of the four best-performing third-placed teams. Unfortunately, Ukraine was eliminated due to an unfavorable goal difference. This is the first time in the history of the European Championship that a team accumulated 4 points but finished at the bottom of their group. Ukraine holds this record. It is also worth mentioning that Artem Dovbyk, the Ukrainian star who won La Liga’s Golden Boot last season, had a disappointing performance in the tournament. He took 6 shots in 3 matches but failed to hit the target. His lack of goals contributed to Ukraine’s elimination. Despite the unfortunate outcome, the Ukrainian team’s effort and fighting spirit in the games deserve recognition.
