[Saba Sports News] Croatia lost 0-3 to Spain in their first game of the European Championship, with Croatian forward Bruno Petkovic missing a penalty kick. At a press conference, Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic criticized Petkovic’s decision to take the penalty, stating that typically Andrej Kramaric or Luka Modric would take it, but they were no longer on the field. According to team rules, Petkovic should not have taken the penalty due to the team’s hierarchy and seniority principle. Ivan Perisic or Lovro Majer should have taken it. Petkovic took the penalty after asking Ivan Perisic for permission. The players have since apologized at a team meeting, taking responsibility for the missed penalty.
