[Saba Sports News] On June 18, the 2024 Paris Olympic Games torch was passed in Monaco, with Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, a home race winner, serving as the first torchbearer. This marked the first time since 1968 that the Olympic torch came to Monaco. The relay began in front of the Juan Manuel Fangio statue in Port Hercule and lasted 30 minutes. Besides Leclerc, the relay included alpine skier Alexandra Coletti, table tennis player Yang Xiaoxin, sledder Rudy Rinaldi, Prince Albert Alexandre Louis Pierre Grimaldi, and Princess Charlene Wittstock. Due to F1 Grand Prix preparations, few active F1 drivers have served as Olympic torchbearers, with Lewis Hamilton being an exception at the 2012 London Summer Olympics. The 2024 Paris Olympic Games will open on July 26, coinciding with the Belgian F1 Grand Prix, meaning no F1 drivers will attend the opening ceremony.
