Sports News] In the recently concluded men’s singles final of the Thailand
Masters, Chou Tien-Chen, a badminton player from Chinese Taipei, emerged
victorious by defeating Kean Yew Loh and clinching the championship. Following
his win, Chou Tien-Chen, in an interview with the media, revealed a shocking
secret. It was disclosed that he had been diagnosed with colorectal cancer at
the beginning of the previous year. Chou shared that during a break between
games at the start of last year, he returned to Taiwan for some rest. Given
that he had not undergone a health check-up for 2-3 years, he decided to
undergo one. However, the results of a colonoscopy unexpectedly revealed an
early-stage colorectal cancer diagnosis. After undergoing surgery, his
performance in badminton declined, but he chose not to disclose this
information to the public. Only after winning the men’s singles final of the
Thailand Badminton Masters did he find the courage to speak out. Fortunately,
Chou Tien-Chen’s health is now stable. He returned to Taiwan, China on the
fifth of this month, where he will take a short break and celebrate the Lunar New
Year. He is expected to embark on a European tour starting on February 27th and
continue competing for points towards the Paris Olympics.
