[Saba Sports News] England pacer Brydon Carse has been handed a 16-month ban, with 13 months suspended for two years, making him eligible to play from August 28, 2024.
The Cricket Regulator, an independent body, stated that Carse was charged with placing 303 bets on various cricket matches between 2017 and 2019, none of which involved games he was playing in. Carse will be suspended from all cricket from May 28, 2024, to August 28, 2024. If he avoids further offences for two years, he will face no additional penalties. There was no evidence of broader integrity concerns from his actions.
The ECB supported the Cricket Regulator’s decision and acknowledged Carse’s cooperation and remorse. They highlighted his growth and understanding of his responsibilities since the breach and expressed hope that his case would serve as an educational example for other cricketers.
Carse debuted in first-class cricket for Durham in 2016 and made his international debut for England in an ODI in 2021, with his last appearance in December 2023. He has played 14 ODIs and 3 T20Is.
