[Saba Sports News] At the recently concluded Malaysian Badminton Masters, the Malaysian mixed doubles pair of Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai emerged victorious in the final against their Indonesian counterparts, ending Malaysia’s 6-year championship drought on home soil. This triumph marks their fourth mixed doubles championship on the Badminton Tour, following their victories at the 2018 German Open, 2018 Singapore Open, and 2024 Swiss Open. Notably, this achievement comes a mere 22 days before their wedding on May 4. The championship also put an end to a 7-year stretch of Malaysian players failing to secure the Malaysian Masters title in their home country. Malaysia’s last Badminton World Tour title victory as the host nation was in the 2018 Malaysian Open. The previous host country triumph in the Malaysian Masters dates back to 2017. Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai have been partners since 2016, starting their journey together at the 2016 Malaysia Badminton Masters held in Sabah.
