Dinwiddie’s familiarity with Dallas, having contributed to their Western Conference Finals run in 2022, made the Mavericks a seemingly logical choice. However, despite the Lakers’ poorer performance and his less established connections within the team, Dinwiddie, driven by his Los Angeles roots and lifelong Lakers fandom, embraced the higher expectations and tougher path with the Lakers. At the time of his move, Dinwiddie was averaging 12.6 points per game with the Brooklyn Nets before his trade to Toronto and subsequent release.
