[Saba Sports News] India’s prominent all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, was seen alongside Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the Gandhinagar Premier League’s opening ceremony, amidst his recovery from an ankle injury incurred during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Shah highlighted the event’s potential to nurture sports culture locally, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide ‘Parliamentarian Sports Competition’ initiative to promote sports across various levels.
Amit Shah shared on social media his optimism about the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha Premier League (GLPL), a cricket tournament involving 7 constituencies of the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha, enriching sports culture and encouraging a healthy lifestyle in the region.
The event also witnessed the presence of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, underscoring the synergy between government and sports entities.
With Pandya’s temporary absence from the national team, his anticipated leadership for Mumbai Indians in the upcoming IPL 2024 season is generating excitement among fans. In his absence, Suryakumar Yadav stepped up as captain for the T20I matches against Australia and South Africa.
Despite Yadav’s commendable leadership, he too suffered an ankle injury during the South Africa series, leading to Rohit Sharma’s captaincy return against Afghanistan after more than a year.
