[Saba Sports News] The incredible journey of MS Dhoni, from being a ticket collector in Kharagpur’s railways to becoming one of the most esteemed cricket captains in the world, has served as a tremendous source of inspiration for many. Not only is he highly respected in India, but his reputation also extends globally.
During his early days in Kharagpur, West Bengal, Dhoni became proficient in the local language, Bengali. At a recent event, the 42-year-old shared an amusing incident where his understanding of Bengali proved advantageous during a match against Bangladesh.
He said, “While I was working as a railway employee in Kharagpur, I had a strong grasp of Bengali. Even though I might be a bit rusty now if I speak it, I might make some mistakes, but I can still understand Bengali quite well.”
Dhoni went on to recall, “Interestingly, we were playing a match in Bangladesh, and they were unaware that I could understand Bengali. Their wicketkeeper was instructing something to the bowler, and I already knew what delivery he was suggesting. After the match, as we were conversing, I overheard their conversation, and upon seeing my reaction, they were surprised to discover that I understood Bengali.”
This humorous anecdote, shared by the three-time ICC event-winning captain, left everyone present at the event in fits of laughter.
Dhoni has expressed his intent to participate in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on multiple occasions. He recently led the Chennai Super Kings to their fifth IPL title, showcasing his exceptional leadership and turning an inexperienced bowling attack into a formidable force with his guidance.
With a few months remaining before the commencement of the 17th season of the IPL, fans eagerly await the return of this iconic cricketer to the field.
