[Saba Sports News] Isaiah Stewart’s animosity towards Pacific Division players was highlighted once again when The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that the Detroit Pistons’ Stewart had an altercation with Drew Eubanks of the Phoenix Suns.
The incident took place in the back tunnels of the Footprint Center in Phoenix, more than an hour before the Suns-Pistons game was scheduled to start on Wednesday. The cause of the altercation remains uncertain, but the NBA is expected to investigate further after receiving footage. Initially, the two players were facing off before Stewart landed a punch on Eubanks’ face, after which they were separated, and law enforcement became involved.
Eubanks confirmed the altercation, describing Stewart’s hit as a surprise attack but downplayed its impact, labeling the punch as “soft” and affirming his readiness for the game.
This incident occurred ahead of the season’s second matchup between the Suns and Pistons, with the Suns having secured a win in their first encounter in Detroit. Despite the lack of a significant rivalry between these non-conference teams, the event may stir tensions.
Stewart, known for his fiery temper and a previous suspension from an altercation with LeBron James, is likely facing another suspension due to this incident, especially as he was already sidelined with an ankle injury.
