[Saba Sports News] Anthony Taylor, the referee who
officiated last season’s Europa League final, faced demotion after a
controversial penalty decision in the Newcastle United vs. Wolves Championship
match. Surprisingly, Taylor once again found himself in the centre of
controversy after awarding another contentious penalty in the Preston vs.
Coventry game. During the match, Coventry defender Kyle McFadzean was deemed to
have brought down Preston forward Milutin Osmajic in the penalty area,
resulting in a penalty being awarded. However, upon reviewing the replay, the
contact between the players appeared minimal, leading to doubts about the
accuracy of the penalty call. Some fans sarcastically suggested that Taylor
would be officiating in the English League One in the following week.
