Sports News] The Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish Football Federation
recently announced that Getafe will face a punishment of playing one home game
without spectators due to a fan altercation. It is noteworthy that this
incident occurred on June 25, 2017, during the La Liga promotion play-off
final. Getafe held the advantage in the second leg and managed to secure a 3-2
aggregate victory over Tenerife, earning them promotion to La Liga. However,
during that match, clashes erupted between Getafe and Tenerife fans at the
Alfonso Perez Stadium. Getafe appealed the matter, but the case remained
pending for several years. It was not until December 14 of this year that the
Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish Football Federation officially announced
the rejection of Getafe’s appeal. As Getafe’s next La Liga fixture is an away
game, the punishment will be enforced during their home match against Rayo
Vallecano at 0:00 on January 3, Beijing time. This delayed punishment has
garnered attention due to the significant time gap between the incident and the
disciplinary decision.
