[Saba Sports News] The 2023 Formula One season has concluded, and
teams are now focusing on developing new cars for the upcoming 2024 season. In
a historic move, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has
confirmed that all Formula One staff will be taking a Christmas break for the
first time ever. The break will begin on Christmas Eve and last until January 2
of the following year. During this period, all personnel, regardless of their role,
are prohibited from entering the factory, using their laptops, or even
answering work-related emails on their phones. Previously, Formula One had a
mandatory two-week summer break in August, where all staff were required to
cease work. However, with the expansion of the competition schedule, the 2024
Formula One Grand Prix season will feature a record-breaking 24 races. The
addition of the Christmas and New Year holidays further disrupts the research,
development, and preparation plans of each team. While not all Formula One
practitioners agree with the increased rest time, with Mercedes’ Technical
Director James Allison being one of the opponents, stating in an interview,
“The season never ends, the break never comes.”
