[Saba Sports News] During the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Bengaluru on March 27, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan engaged in a light-hearted exchange. RCB, led by Faf du Plessis, clinched their first win of the ongoing competition, defeating PBKS by four wickets.
In the seventh over of the second innings, Kohli, facing a delivery by Harpreet Brar towards the covers, took a single. At the non-striker’s end, the PBKS skipper appeared to say something to Kohli, prompting a humorous response from the RCB captain.
“Senti Kyu Ho Raha Hain? Kya Ho Gaya?” (Why are you getting sentimental? What happened?), Kohli was heard saying in a video circulating on social media.
Kohli’s gritty knock of 77 runs off 49 balls spearheaded RCB’s chase after Punjab posted 176 runs batting first. The star batter was dismissed by his former RCB teammate, Harshal Patel. Subsequently, veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik (28* off 10) and Impact Substitute Mahipal Lomror (17* off 8) played crucial late cameos, guiding the hosts to victory with four balls to spare.
Following the match, Punjab skipper Shikhar Dhawan reflected on their missed opportunities, attributing their loss partly to dropping Kohli’s catch when he was on 0. Dhawan believed that dropping the catch of such a class player had a significant impact on the game’s momentum.
While Dhawan was satisfied with his innings of 45 runs off 37 balls, he acknowledged that he could have played faster in the initial overs. “I think we were 10-15 runs short. Should have capitalized in the first six overs. I was happy with my runs, but I think I could’ve played faster in the first six (overs),” he added.
