[Saba Sports News] With the 17th Indian Premier League edition approaching, Bengaluru is grappling with a significant water crisis. Despite this, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), responsible for the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium where Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will play their home games, remains positive about managing the stadium’s water needs. Concerns about the water shortage potentially affecting ground maintenance and match hosting were addressed in a KSCA meeting.
KSCA CEO Shubendu Ghosh is confident in their ability to fulfill water requirements using the stadium’s sewage treatment plant (STP), ensuring the smooth running of IPL matches. The STP is expected to provide the 10,000-15,000 liters of water needed for the games.
RCB officials are also optimistic, maintaining close communication with KSCA and preparing for their upcoming home matches, starting with a game against Punjab Kings on March 25. The team is set to kick off the season against Chennai Super Kings on March 22 in Chennai, with additional home games against Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow SuperGiants scheduled in the season’s first half.
