Sourav Ganguly, a former captain of India, believes
that if the Men in Blue keep up their current level of “good cricket”
over the next 45 days, they will have a decent chance of winning the World Cup.
Given that the World Cup is only one week away, cricket excitement is at an
all-time high around the globe. After winning the Asia Cup and the just
finished ODI series against five-time World Champions Australia, Men in Blue
are brimming with confidence.
The Men in Blue have been playing exceptionally well,
according to the former captain, thus this year’s event will be significant.
“This is going to be a big World Cup. The World
Cup is a big tournament. India has been playing very well, so it is a matter of
delight. We hope that they continue to play the same good Cricket for the next
45 days,” Ganguly told the reporters.
Right before the famous competition, many batters
including Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul are in top
form.
Jasprit Bumrah, who returned to the national team over
a year ago following a back ailment, will be key for the Men in Blue. His
performance and fitness level will be crucial to India’s chances at the World
Cup.
India will play two warm-up games before beginning
their World Cup campaign. The first of these games will take place on Saturday
at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati against England, while the second
will take place on October 3 at the Greenfield International Stadium in
Thiruvananthapuram against the Netherlands.
India will start their WC campaign with a clash
against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8.
