[Saba Sports News] After winning the one-off Test against England in the summer, Australia entered the Ashes series as favorites. However, they faced back-to-back defeats in the ODI and T20I series, leading to a complicated situation. Ultimately, the series ended in an 8-8 tie after the ODI and T20I contests, allowing Australia to retain the trophy.
Reflecting on their performance, Alyssa Healy noted that the series against England has provided valuable learning experiences and areas for improvement. She believes these lessons will enhance both the team and individual players in future tournaments.
“It’s given us a great opportunity to come home and reflect and find some little areas that we can improve on, which I think is only going to make our team and us as individuals even better moving forward. Which I think is a fantastic outcome, that we can come home with the trophy and also come home with some learnings,” Healy stated.
Australia will soon participate in a six-game white-ball series against West Indies, beginning on October 1 at North Sydney Oval. After this, they will host South Africa for a multi-format series. Healy sees this as an exciting opportunity for the team to “re-evolve” and set new goals to raise their performance standards.
“It’s exciting, I think it’s a new little time for our group to almost re-evolve. We did a great job of that (after the 2017 World Cup) but I think it’s a great opportunity now to reset some goals and work out how we can continue to raise the bar for ourselves and to just keep improving the standard,” said Healy, who is 33 years old.
