[Saba Sports News] In an unforgettable evening for Rachin Ravindra, he blasted a fifty on his ODI World Cup debut.
As New Zealand set on the chase of 283 runs, Ravindra, who came to bat at number three in the absence of Kans Williamson, took the attack to the England bowlers right from the word go.
The carnage started off in the third over when Ravindra smashed Chris Woakes for two consecutive fours. He even did not spare the England speedster Mark Wood, who got hit for a six and a four on the back-to-back deliveries in his first over.
Ravindra did not stop here and aced the Moeen Ali test in Ahmedabad as the 23-year-old soon moved to his fifty in what was his maiden ODI World Cup apperance.
At the time of writing, the Wellington-born is batting on 91 runs. If he scores a hundred, he will become 16th player to hit a century on his World Cup debut. His batting partner Devon Conway achieved the same feat on Thursday.
New Zealand are 200/1 in 27 overs, cruising towards a victory, currently needing 83 runs to start their campaign with a massive win.
