[Saba Sports News] The Pakistan Cricket Team is in India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 after seven years, and they received a warm welcome. A viral tweet, allegedly from star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, invited the Pakistan team for a party at his house.
However, it was later discovered that the tweet came from a fake account with the username @amiVkohli, and no such message was posted from Kohli’s official account.
“I warmly Welcome Pakistan Cricket Team on their arrival in my country after a long time period of 7 years, I will host a party for my friends specially for Shadab at my house 🤗 Love you all, always spread love and joy,” the viral tweet reads.
The parody account used the same profile picture as Kohli’s official account, featuring him with his wife, Anushka Sharma, and had a similar bio. It clarified that it was a parody account in the bio.
Virat Kohli is known for his friendly relations with Pakistan cricketers, both on and off the field, which contributed to the confusion surrounding the tweet.
Pakistan began their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on October 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. They lost both of their warm-up matches against New Zealand and Australia.
The much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan is scheduled for October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
