[Saba Sports News] The early exit of Team India from the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup still stings some fans. India failed to qualify for the Super Eight round after suffering two losses in the group stage against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Rahul Dravid led India in that tournament and managed to secure a win only against Bermuda.
After the heartbreaking campaign in 2007, India won the next World Cup in 2011.
Nevertheless, Dravid is now the head coach of the team, who is all set to to play their first game in the competition against Australia on October 8.
In a recent interaction, the 50-year-old Dravid was asked about India’s nightmarish performance in the 2007 World Cup, to which he cheekily responded:
“It is a long time since I was a player. I almost forgot that I was actually a cricket player at one stage to be very honest with you. I have moved on from that. I don’t think of myself as a player anymore. Maybe that’s the mind-space difference. I am focused on helping the group to do the best they can,” Dravid was quoted as saying by India Today.
India did not do well in the 2007 ODI World Cup, however, Dravid, the head honcho, would want to make amends to that in 2023.
