[Saba Sports News] The game of cricket can sometimes be cruel to one of the two teams playing in a match, as dew plays a major role in cricket matches. This results in undesirable bowling by the bowlers, as they cannnot grip the ball as well as they want.
To tackle these complications, ground curators usually use a chemical, Apsa 80, which is typically used by farmers during farming.
It is an anti-dew chemical that assists in water absorption and allows for pitch improvement when rainwater or dew gathers, especially on sub-continental wickets in the evening.
According to reports, the same suggestion was given by the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) to the curators of the ground, which are hosting the ODI World Cup 2023.
The Indian cricket board also demanded a minimum level of grass and minimal water sprinkling on the turf to tackle the dew factor.
Moreover, the BCCI instructed the pitch curators to prepare the batting-friendly tracks.
The ongoing World Cup has already had three matches done, and the steps taken by the BCCI are actually paying off as there has been the barest amount of dew found so far.
