[Saba Sports News] The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is just around the corner, and India will be hosting this prestigious event as the sole host for the first time in history.
In previous editions (1987, 1996, 2011), India co-hosted the tournament with neighboring countries. The 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup will run from October 5 to November 19, featuring 48 matches, including Semi-Finals and the Final, held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
While these venues are significant, the top venues in terms of World Cup matches are all located in England, which has hosted the event five times. Leading the list is Old Trafford in Manchester, which has hosted 17 matches, providing an exceptional cricketing atmosphere.
Lord’s Cricket Ground in England has seen 15 matches, often hosting the World Cup final. Other venues like Trent Bridge, Kennington Oval, Headingley Cricket Ground, and Edgbaston Cricket Ground in England have also played a vital role in the World Cup’s history, with each hosting 16 matches.
These venues have witnessed iconic moments, including thrilling semi-finals and dramatic ties, making them an integral part of cricket’s grandest spectacle.
