[Saba Sports News] Scoot Henderson has assumed the role of the fresh face of the Portland Trail Blazers franchise. It seems, however, that being a rookie doesn’t spare him from some light-hearted initiation rituals.
Henderson showcased his skills during the Blazers’ fan fest, which took place at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon on Sunday. The young Blazers guard drew inspiration from Damian Lillard and decided to perform a rap during the rookie talent show. His song of choice? Mary J. Blige’s “Family Affair.”
What’s impressive is that Henderson didn’t just go through the motions; he fully embraced the act. He engaged the audience by strolling around the court and even revealed some of his dance moves.
Henderson managed to get the crowd pumped up in multiple ways that Sunday. In addition to his performance, he teamed up with fellow newcomer Deandre Ayton for an alley-oop play during the team scrimmage.
Following the trade involving Damian Lillard, the Blazers have effectively hit the reset button on their roster. They now have only one player above 30 years old, boasting a wealth of young talent across various positions. After more than a decade with one superstar point guard leading the way in Portland, it appears that Henderson is poised to usher in a new era in the City of Roses.
