Due to a hamstring injury, fast bowler Darcie Brown
will not be able to play in the remaining ODIs against the West Indies. She may
also miss the beginning of the WBBL.
Brown exited the pitch with discomfort in her left
hamstring after three overs of the first one-day match in Brisbane, where she
shared the vital partnership with Stafanie Taylor. In the pivotal T20I, she had
already produced a match-winning 3 for 20.
“Brown will undergo further assessment in the
coming days and an update on her availability provided in due course,” a
CA statement said.
The two games in Melbourne that mark the end of the
West Indies tour will feature Tasmanian all-rounder Heather Graham in the
lineup. She will be there on Wednesday after competing in the WNCL versus ACT.
In Brown’s absence, Australia may think about changing
the composition of their assault by returning Jess Jonassen, who missed the
opening ODI after being benched for the final T20I.
There are many seam-bowling possibilities in the side,
including Tahlia McGrath, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, and Kim Garth.
Following her knee injury in Ireland, Ellyse Perry had stated that she might
not be ready to bowl before the WBBL.
Adelaide Strikers, the defending WBBL champions, will
have a close eye on Brown’s fitness with their tournament getting underway on
October 21 against Melbourne Stars.
Australia lead the ODI series 1-0 having bowled out
West Indies for 83 at Allan Border Field.
