With this latest century, Rohit Sharma now sits atop the list of players with the most centuries in the history of the ICC World Cup. He has claimed the top spot with seven centuries, firmly establishing himself as a cricketing legend. Sachin Tendulkar, another Indian cricket icon, follows closely behind with six centuries, while Sri Lanka’s former captain Kumar Sangakkara boasts five centuries to his name. Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting and Australian opener David Warner occupy the fourth and fifth positions on this prestigious list, with five and four centuries, respectively.
India’s match against Afghanistan in the ODI World Cup witnessed a strong start by the Indian team as they pursued a target of 273 runs. The opening partnership between Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan reached an impressive 156 runs, setting a solid foundation for the team. However, Ishan Kishan narrowly missed out on his half-century when he was dismissed for 47 by spinner Rashid Khan.
