[Saba Sports News] Andrew McDonald, Australia’s coach, emphasized the need to take every team seriously in the ODI World Cup, especially ahead of their clash with the Netherlands. Australia is set to face the Netherlands at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 25.
McDonald praised the Netherlands for their outstanding performance against South Africa at Dharamsala’s HPCA Stadium, where they secured a 38-run victory. He acknowledged the talent and form of the Dutch players and stressed that underestimating any team would be a mistake.
“We won’t be resting anyone. There won’t be any designed rests. If they are to miss the game, it would be through potential niggles. We have got a short turnaround to the New Zealand game [next Saturday] but our focus is firmly on that Dutch game.”
Despite the close proximity of the New Zealand match, McDonald emphasized that their primary focus is on the game against the Netherlands. He also stated that Australia plans to field its strongest XI for the match against the Netherlands.
“We’ve got a big break on the back of New Zealand, not that the players will be thinking about that at this point in time. We feel there’s an ample gap with the way the tournament is structured that you can get your best players through all the games,” McDonald added.
