[Saba Sports News] The Philadelphia 76ers find themselves in a challenging situation as their season begins. James Harden has been seeking a trade throughout the offseason, but the Sixers have resisted his public demand. They did, however, attempt to negotiate a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers for Harden.
Reportedly, Sixers executive Daryl Morey has expressed frustration with the Clippers, believing they were not serious about completing a trade for Harden. Notably, no deal was reached, and it’s now been reported that the Clippers have decided to put trade talks for Harden on hold.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, “at least for the foreseeable future, the Clippers are stepping back from trade talks about James Harden. They are essentially pausing them… they made their best offer for Harden.” The Clippers intend to assess their team’s performance at the start of the season before considering any changes to their offer.
This situation raises concerns for the 76ers, as they may worry that the price for Harden could decrease rather than increase in the future. At present, the Sixers have chosen not to allow Harden to travel with the team for away games.
James Harden is in the final season of his current contract and is earning $35.6 million this year. While the Sixers have already started their season, the Clippers secured a victory in their opener.
