[Saba Sports News] Sara Tendulkar, daughter of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, took to social media to express her distress over deepfake photos of her circulating on ‘X’.
In her Instagram story, she emphasized that she doesn’t have an account on X and urged the platform to address the issue of accounts impersonating her. She expressed concern over the misuse of technology, highlighting how it distorts truth and authenticity online.
“Social media is a wonderful space for all of us to share our joys, sorrows, and daily activities. However, it is disconcerting to see the misuse of technology as it takes away from the truth and authenticity of the internet. I have come across some deepfake photos of me which are far from reality. A few accounts on X (formerly Twitter) have obviously been created with the intent to impersonate me and mislead people. I do not have an account on X, and I hope X looks into such accounts and suspends them. Entertainment should never come at the expense of the truth. Let’s encourage communication that’s based on trust and reality.”
In her statement, Sara stressed the importance of truth over entertainment on social media, advocating for trust-based communication. The incident brings to light the growing problem of deepfakes, a trend previously affecting Bollywood actor Rashmika Mandanna, who received support from Amitabh Bachchan.
Separately, Sara also acknowledged the Indian cricket team’s efforts in the ODI World Cup 2023. Despite India’s loss in the final against Australia, she commended the team for their exceptional performance throughout the tournament, empathizing with the players and fans over the disappointment of a single bad day in an otherwise successful campaign.
“Congratulations to Australia on their sixth World Cup win. On the most important day of the biggest stage, they played better cricket. Hard luck Team India, just one bad day in an otherwise sterling tournament can be heartbreaking. I can imagine the agony of the players, fans, and well-wishers and what they must be going through. Losses are a part of the sport, but let us remember that this unit gave their all for us throughout the tournament,” Sara wrote in another IG story.
